Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero announced today that two large five-star hotels are being built in the Ancon Peninsula, about 12 kilometers south of the city of Trinidad.
Marrero posted it on his Twitter account when referring to the presentation of the Development Plan for Trinidad city (Sancti Spíritus province) until 2030 to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who is making a government visit to the central Cuban territory. According to the information, the plan will reach about 2,000 rooms. 'Two hotels are currently being completed and two large five-star hotels in Ancon are in the process of being built. #CubaDestinoSeguro,' the minister detailed. Diaz-Canel stressed the day before the beauty of Trinidad, the kindness and affection of its people. The city is a historical, cultural, and patrimonial jewel that we will all defend so that it develops harmoniously and sustainably. #SomosCuba #SomosContinuity, he wrote in his Twitter account. This week Trinidad celebrates the 505th anniversary of its foundation. The region of Trinidad is not only a city of highly preserved colonial architecture with strong traditions, but also a starting point for nature and nautical tours. It is a very interesting place, especially for those who want to know sites linked to Cuban culture. Likewise, it is taking on new vigour with renovating plans to allow more and better tourism, while preserving the history of the place and its countless charms, say specialists. In 1988, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization included the Historic Center of Trinidad in the World Heritage List, along with the Valle de los Ingenios, an area where sugar cane flourished with the arrival of the Iznaga, Borrell and Brunet families in the middle of the 19th century.
