Cuba celebrates Lunar New Year governed by Water Bunny

Sponsored, among others, by the Confucius Institute of Havana, the Cuban Association of Wushu and Health Qigon and the House of Arts and Chinese Traditions of the capital, the colorful program of activities next day 22 of the Chinese Lunar New Year, a holiday that descendants of children of that nation love in Cuba.

Also known as the Warm Spring Festival, which starts with the first new moon of the year, 2023, according to Chinese tradition, will take place under the regency of the harmonious energies and the charisma of the Water Rabbit, and it will be a favorable stage for the birth of children, kindness, and the details that improve daily life and protection of the family.

From children's drawing contests to the so-called Flower Festival in the neighborhoods, it includes the effusive programming that will run until February 10. The Sang Fan Cong Square, an important deity of that culture, is also among the enclaves that celebrate the tradition together with the House of Chinese Arts and Traditions, while the Confucius Institute hosts an exhibition or Chinese Film Week, conferences on arts, including dance and martial arts.

Also, the Chinese Embassy in Cuba has been carrying out activities within the framework of the so-called Warm Spring, since mid-January 2023, as an expression of the will of official authorities of the great nation to increase ties of friendship and cooperation that unite bothtowns.

Ambassador Ma Hui himself visited Chinatown in Havana, delivered gifts for the Spring Festival to the Chinese community in Cuba, and attended an act on the occasion of the imminent arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year convened by the Chung Casino Federation, Wah and the Lung Kong Society. In the famous Chinatown of the capital, located in the Centro Habana municipality, live mainly Cubans descendants of the Chinese migrations, which began in the mid-19th century.

In other parts of Cuba, there are also descendants who learned from their elders to maintain deep spiritual ties and love for the traditions of their ancestors, such as the magical Lunar New Year party, which for many years has been an expected and summoning celebration,in various parts of Cuba.

On behalf of the overseas Chinese in Cuba, the president of the Chung Wah Casino Federation, Julio Fong, expressed gratitude for the beautiful gesture and highlighted the long-standing bond that unites China and Cuba not only by friendship, but also by blood ties.

A relationship promoted in these times with greater intensity.Although Chinese emigration to Cuba stopped en masse many years ago, Havana's Chinatown became famous in the mid-20th century.Now it is popular and populous.With its magnificent Portico, donated by China, and its new educational, sports, and cultural centers, restaurants, and shops, it still retains great appeal for national and foreign visitors.
