Cuba has been selected. as the first cultural destination on the American continent to visit this year by the prestigious National Geographic magazine, published in more than 30 languages. According to information published on its Facebook account, the island's Ministry of Tourism highlights this recognition, in which the Cuban capital is mentioned as a melting pot of cultures that is nourished by various African, Caribbean and Spanish influences.

In its recommendations, the publication suggests that foreign visitors walk the streets of Havana, especially the old part, to enjoy the beautiful views offered by the colonial doors, the bars and, above all, taste a typical Daiquirí. In addition, it encourages you to visit the Viñales Valley, in the western end of Cuba - World Heritage since 1999 -, the swamps of the Ciénaga de Zapata and the city of Cienfuegos, in the south center of the island, full of French charm. .

The North American publication also included in that selection Peru, the so-called Deep South of the United States (territories of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina), Mexico and Colombia.
