Umelisa SARS-COV-2 antigen is the new COVID-19 diagnostician developed by Cuban scientists, which is considered an important step in confronting the pandemic that has affected the country and the world just over 18 months ago.

Information released by Cubavisión Internacional adds that the new test, clearly Cuban, was developed by the Immunoassay Center, validated by the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine and allows identifying the presence of the virus in asymptomatic suspected patients in just 4 hours. According to the deputy director of the Diagnosis Development and Production area, Irina Valdivia &Aálvarez, the new biotechnological product has been registered by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CEDMED) and, both the raw materials used in its production, like the kit, are 100 percent Cuban. Valdivia &Aálvarez added that by July 8, the delivery of the first 826 kits will begin and by July 15, more than 1,600, with which the island#39;s health system will have more than 705,000 diagnostic tests. The distribution of Umelisa SARS-COV-2 antigen is in charge of the Company Marketing and Distribution of Medicines (Emcomed), after exhaustive tests of effectiveness.
