Cuba already has enough of its own anti-COVID-19 vaccines to immunize the entire population of the country before the end of this year, informed Eduardo Martínez, director of BioCubaFarma, on his official Twitter account.

We have completed the production of all the doses of vaccines that we need to immunize our population. The challenge was great, but we did it, added the manager.

The country managed to develop and produce in record time five anti-Covid-19 vaccine candidates, three of which: Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus from the Finlay Institute of Vaccines and Abdala, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, already have authorization for emergency use by the regulatory agency.

Cuba began mass vaccination of its population last May. First in territories and risk groups, then in the provinces and at this time the process of immunization of the pediatric population from two to 18 years of age has already begun.

So far, 18 million 752 thousand 564 doses of Soberana 02 and Abdala have been applied on the island, according to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health.

Of that total, eight million 537 572 people have been vaccinated with one dose, five million 547 thousand 792 people with two and 4.6 million with three.

It is expected that before the end of this year the country's population will be fully vaccinated.
