Cuba to Improve Information for Growing Tourism

International visitors will have a new tourist guide on recreational options in Cuba, which this year received more than three million travelers, according to an official of the sector.

The head of the National Tourist Information Office, Oscar Gonzalez, told Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the printed material will be available in 2019 and several entities participate in its preparation, including the business group Geocuba. As explained, Infotur information centers seek to increase the supply of content in print, due to the high demand of foreign visitors, even when they can access the data through electronic media. To respond to the vacationers' demands, the Office works together with the hotel chains in order to place in each of its facilities a large-format map with information on different places of interest, he explained to ACN. The National Hotel of Cuba already offers that facility and the purpose is that this year all the hotels in the cities of Havana, Varadero, Holguin, Santa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba have the map, he said Gonzalez also highlighted the operation of CubaMaps website, which allows locating sites of interest in the national territory and obtaining their updated data. As he pointed out, there are currently 12,700 geo-localized points and the objective is to continue expanding this information. Winter season (November-April) are superior, based on the performance of issuers such as Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.
