Cuba Promotes Foreign Investment at Int'l Food Fair

The 2nd International Fair of Food, Beverages and Food Technology of Cuba began  at Pabexpo exhibition complex in order to promote foreign investment for the development of these items.

The meeting, in which one hundred exhibitors from 22 countries around the world are participating, will conclude on May 24.

In addition to the promotion of foreign investment, the event seeks to promote industrial development for increased exports, facilitation of transfer and access to technology, among other objectives, according to a news conference held prior to the event.

With the holding of business rounds, in which the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba will be involved, and an investment forum to give impetus to the National Industry Development Program, the participation of 70 foreign companies is expected.

Among the new features of the Fair are global food launches by the Cuban-Swiss joint venture Nescor S.A. and others from the Molinera de la Habana industry, the vice president of the Food Corporation (Coralsa), Nancy Alejano, told the press.

The 2nd Rum Festival in Cuba will collaterally begin tomorrow with the participation of professionals from that industry, producers and national and international distributors, the president of the Cuba Rum Corporation, Juan Gonzalez, said.

The 2nd International Fair of Food, Beverages and Food Technology of Cuba is sponsored by the Cuban Ministry of the Food Industry, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and Agriculture.
