Cuba won the Audience Award, corresponding to the third prize, awarded by spectators attending the Global Grand Finale of the Contest Havana Club Cocktail Masters, concluded this Wednesday in the Cuban capital with the participation of eight teams from the same number of countries.
A total of five prizes were awarded: the first Cuban Mastery was selected by judge Simone Caporale –renowned international bartender, awarded several times- and it was the team from the Czech Republic, the second Bartenders' Choice Awards and the fourth Bartender Words were won by the Spanish team, while the Havana Club Maestro Grand Prix was received by Greece from the hands of Cristian Barré, general director of Havana Club International S.A.
The contest ended last night at La Divina Pastora restaurant, adjacent to the emblematic Castillo del Morro in Havana, constituting a pioneer initiative, launched by Havana Club International S. A. that lays the foundations for a new era in the world of mixology, while reaffirming the greatest of Antilles as unparalleled host of international cocktails.
The mixed company Havana Club International S.A. was created in November 1993 by the Cuban company Cuba Ron S.A. and the French Group Pernod Ricard, with the aim of developing the brand on an international scale through the solid global distribution network of the French entity. Havana Club is exported to more than 125 countries around the world (excluding USA, where Cuban products are prohibited due to the trade embargo, and has among its main markets Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Chile, Canada, Argentina and Mexico.
This prestigious brand maintains a long relationship with bartenders, with whom it continues to collaborate and support over the years, especially to through the international cocktail competition The Havana Club Grand Prix, which started in 1996.
