Cuba reached one million visitors this year, four days after than in 2017, it was officially announced in Havana.

This figure was reached despite the damages caused by hurricane Irma last September and to the campaigns designed by the United States against the island.

The director of Communication of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), Janet Ayalka, said in her Facebook account the figure was reached in the tourism high season that is still in force, and precisely when that industry receives a wide investment process.

According to the official, that result was achieved through the joint effort of all government and State entities related with the tourism sector, together with its workers.

Cuba gives priority to the tourism activity, one of the main sources of hard currency earnings, which advances despite the campaigns concocted by the U.S. government on alleged &insecurity" for travelers who visit the greater of the Antilles.

At present, Cuba has some 67 thousand hotel romos and over 21 thousand rooms in private tenants, according to figures of Mintur.
