The arrival in Cuba of 489,000 foreign visitors during the first two months of this year, of which 252,650 were Canadians, show that tourism to the largest of the Antilles is experiencing a recovery.
According to information from the researcher José Luis Perelló published by the local press, Canada continues as the first issuing market for this destination, since the registered figure is 80% compared to 2019.
In the period analyzed, the main emitters after Canada, with just over 50% of arrivals, were Cubans residing abroad (51,187) and the United States (24,451); in correspondence with the greater representativeness of the air contingency. As for vacationers from Europe, arrivals maintain low figures, due to the non-recovery of long-distance trips from the old continent and insufficient air connections, among other causes: United Kingdom (13,596), Germany (13,585), France (13,103), Italy (11,373), Spain (10,613) and Russia (20,589), adds Perelló.
Cuba aspires this year to receive some 3.5 million tourists, according to the forecasts announced by the authorities of the sector.
