Cuba will host the Eroica cycle-tourist march

The Eroica cycle-tourist march will take place for the first time in the Caribbean region, specifically in Cuba, chosen for that event for its unmatched beauty, as stated Giancarlo Brocci, founder of the march.

When presenting the event before the national and foreign press accredited in Cuba, Brocci pointed it will take place next Saturday from the “Julio Antonio Mella” International Camp in the province of Artemisa and begins with a long route of almost 140 km and an average of almost 100 km, during which it will travel through the municipalities of Caimito, Candelaria, among others points mainly within this province on embankment routes.

He also explained that as part of the march, on Sunday there will be a salute to Havana and to the people of the capital, in favor of promoting the images of this beautiful city throughout the world, its beauty and its architectural-cultural values along with the joy of its people in healthy sports practices.

L'Eroica, Italian non-profit association that annually organizes tourist sports events in the world, selected Cuba to celebrate its first race in the Caribbean and trust the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Havanatur S.A. through its receptive in Cuba, which entails organizing that march in a different scenario than previous editions.

This cycle-tourist race known as L'Eroica has been held every year in Italy since year 1997 and is based on a round trip, where the main characteristic is the use of Competition Bicycles, Classic Clothing and Accessories manufactured before 1987, except the helmet, which has been recognized worldwide. Due to its popularity, events have been created outside Italy under the Eroica label in Spain, Holland, Great Britain, Japan, South Africa and Uruguay, arriving for the first time to the Caribbean.

Eroica is a pro-nature movement that defends the care of natural resources and the preservation of the environment. Therefore, this type of route rescues the sport without encouraging competition, attached to what is natural, the resistance of the participants on difficult routes, the fraternity and solidarity among men. They were also present at the presentation, held at the International Press Center, in Havana.

Eduardo Alonso, former Cuban cyclist and top winner of the Vuelta a Cuba together with Yoelkis Salazar Rivero, General Director of Havanatur, as an official recipient of the event.
