Cuba with first place in Covid-19 booster doses in the world

Cuba is the nation with the highest number of Covid-19 booster doses administered to its population worldwide, thanks to a staggered vaccination campaign with nationally produced immunogens.

China, Italy, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Brazil, the United States, India, Russia and South Africa, among others, follow Cuba, according to the Finlay Vaccine Institute on its Twitter account.

According to the daily report provided by the Ministry of Public Health, as of July 2, 7,406,592 had already received booster doses and 9,974,882 had the complete vaccination schedule, which represents 90% of the Cuban population.

To date, 10,680,232 citizens have received a dose of one of the Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines, of which 9,416,688 have already received a second dose and 9,118,853 a third dose.

The Caribbean country has accumulated a total of 38,725,766 doses administered with vaccines produced domestically.

Cuba’s immunogens are safe and without serious adverse effects, according to successful clinical trials and the vaccination of different segments of the population.

According to Cuba’s National Statistics and Information Office, the island’s population at the end of 2020 was about 11,180,000.

More than 220 million people in Latin America do not have a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine, a message from Cuban Medical Services on its Twitter social network account specifies.
