Cuba Courts Nationals Abroad with New Tourism Initiatives

A key highlight of the upcoming 44th International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2026) centers on a strategic outreach to Cubans living abroad, encouraging them to visit the island.

This initiative focuses on expanding the reach and potential of this market segment, as recently detailed by Lessner Gómez, Director of Marketing for the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur).

Speaking in the Mintur publication El Sol de Cuba, Gómez indicated that the event will unveil new business opportunities and travel logistics specifically tailored for the Cuban diaspora. He emphasized that the ministry is developing new incentives to boost arrival figures, underscoring a clear commitment to strengthening this market.

Furthermore, Gómez noted that customized travel packages have been developed in collaboration with inbound travel agencies. these offerings range from car rentals to hotel services designed to meet the specific needs of those traveling to reconnect with family on the island.

The Director highlighted a comprehensive program to be debuted during the Fair, which will enable international promotion offices to market these offers more effectively. He added that extensive groundwork has been laid to streamline facilities and logistics for both expatriates and their families.

FITCuba 2026 will be held as a hybrid event from May 7th to 9th. The first two days will feature a virtual format dedicated to industry professionals, while the final day will be an in-person event open to the general public at Josone Park in the Varadero resort area, located approximately 140 kilometers east of the capital, Havana.
