Cuban medical brigade that worked in Italy returned to Cuba

The Cuban medical brigade Henry Reeve which rendered its services in Crema, Lombardy, Italy, returned Monday to the greater of the Antilles after having attended patients of that city for two months, fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

During that time, the 36 doctors, 15 nurses and a logistics specialist, rendered their service which included over five thousand medical attentions, three thousand 668 nursing cares and 210 direct medical discharges.

At their arrival to international air terminal Jose Marti of the Cuban capital, the brigade was received by officials of the Public Health Ministry, headed by the Director of International Collaboration, Aniuska Pupo.

Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel welcomed the 52 health collaborators who rendered their internationalist services in Italy, in an online address from an ongoing State Council meeting.

In his video conference, Diaz Canel regretted he could not personally embrace them, due to the sanitary measures standing and added &I can only try to fill your hearts with words and transmit to you my deepest emotions. Thank you.".

Further on, he conveyed the pride of the Cuban people for the proposal of organizations and peersonalities worldwide so the Brigade Henry Reeve is awarded the Peace Nobel Prize.

After that, the 52 members of the brigade made a tour of the main streets of the city, where the population welcomed them and finally arrived at the international health center La Pradera, where they will stay 14 days in isolation.
