Cuban weightlifter Pablo Ramirez lifted 185 kilograms on Wednesday and won the silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, in a competition held at La Chapelle Arena.
Gold medalist at this year’s World Cup in Tbilisi and winner of silver and bronze medals at the Parapan American Games of Chile 2023, the 27-year-old para-triathlete achieved his record in the second attempt.
The gold medal went to the Olympic champion of Tokyo 2020, Kazakhstan’s David Degtyarev, with 188 kilograms, while bronze went to China’s Jinglang Yan (179).
So far, the Cuba Paralympic medal table boasts a total of three gold medals, won by Omara Durand in the 400 meters (T12), Yankiel Sol in the long jump (T47) and Guillermo Varona in the javelin throw (F46), in addition to the silver by Yamel Luis Vives in the hectometer (T44).
