Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero evaluated the preparation of the important 40th International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2024) scheduled to take place next November, a press report indicated this Friday.
The note from the Granma newspaper indicates that a few weeks before the start of the Fair (November 4-9), the participation of over 700 Cuban and foreign companies is projected. These assessments appeared during an examination of the preparations for the largest trade fair in the country and the Caribbean and Latin American region, led by Marrero. At the Expocuba fairgrounds – the usual venue for this important event – it was also learned that more than 50 nations have already confirmed their presence, there are a dozen official delegations, and 17 thousand square meters of exhibition space have been contracted.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, added that, to date, national participation amounts to 193 companies, representing all the actors in the economy, of which 30 are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
He noted that this year the fair has a special significance, as it celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the conception of the largest multi-sector trade fair in the country and the Caribbean, which had its origins in 1984, thanks to the vision of Cuban leader Fidel Castro (1926-2016).
As part of the Fair, the Seventh Investment Forum will be held, in which an update of the Portfolio of Business Opportunities in the Greater Antilles will be presented. In addition, the presentation of the Cuba Foreign Trade magazine will be held, and the meeting with binational chambers, among other activities.
Expocuba will host in its 25 pavilions, business meetings, business rounds, seminars, and conferences. Upon learning details of Fihav 2024, the Head of Government stressed that it is a challenge, but also a privilege that should be taken advantage of, and called for making a different fair, to work with seriousness, professionalism and dedicate all possible time to prepare it well.
