Wearing a well deserved pink maillot, Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra leads the 17th Female Tour to Costa Rica, after back-to-back winning the prologue and the second stage of this race.
Sierra (Astana di Italia) started strong by winning the section from Loma Linda to Parque de la Paz, followed by teammate Sofia Bertizzolo and Chilean Paola Muñoz (Almacen 3R Makita).
The Cuban rider faces over 70 rivals from Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico and Panama. This year's Tour is dedicated to Rosaura Méndez, one of the first Costa Ricans female cyclist.
Sierra won last year's edition in the individual general, the regularity and the mountain awards, therefore is the favorite of the specialists. A month ago, she made the Top-10 at Giro d'Italia, one of the greatest race in the world.
