Cuban Students Awarded at Ballet Competition in South Africa

The Fernando Alonso National Ballet School highlighted the top awards obtained by three Cuban students at the XII South African International Ballet Competition.

"Our students have elevated the name of the Cuban Ballet School with a force that is born only from art and discipline," emphasizes a note published by the Cuban cultural institution on the social network Facebook.

It noted that students Greisell Lastre Casuso and Joan Manuel Riera Pérez won a gold medal in the Classical Pas de Deux category, while Jason Baró Benavides won the Grand Prix of the event.

The text also recognized the dedication of the teachers who accompanied them in each rehearsal leading up to the final of the competition: Martha Iris Fernández, Grettel Lastre Casuso, and Wendy Ferrer.

The management of the National Ballet School thanked the South African International Ballet Competition and its director Dirk Badenhorst for "this wonderful opportunity" and congratulated its students for the new achievements that bring prestige to the school.
