The Cuban Sub-12 Baseball Team became victors today in the 12th Guest Tournament in the Dominican Republic, which hosted young players from a dozen countries for a week, after easily beating their Venezuelan opponents.
The Cubans kept a considerable advantage all through the game, played at one of the softball stadiums of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, in Santo Domingo.
At the end of the third inning the scoreboard read a 4-0 in favor of the team led by Vladimir Vargas, a lead that expanded practically without the possibility of a tie at the end of the fourth inning 8-0.
The Venezuelan players scored a run in the opening of the fifth inning and a second in the sixth, but could not catch up with the Cubans, who displayed their superiority in pitching and defense.
Cuba arrived undefeated to this grand final with six games won, beating the Puerto Rican squads with a score of 8-0, Venezuela (13-8), Colombia (4-1), Aruba (10-0), Ecuador (14-1) and the United States by knockout in five innings (11-1) in the semifinals.
