We will soon begin our suggestions for enjoying a vacation in the southeastern province of Granma, next to the sea and the mountains as majestic and luxurious environments, talking about the Desembarco del Granma National Natural Park, pardon the redundancy.
There are only four, but they all unfold into several more options that are amplified like the Chinese box of the story. Desembarco del Granma National Park with a surface area of more than 25,700 hectares between terrestrial and marine ecosystems, it seems that nature went to great lengths to provide this emporium with extraordinary geological formations and to give it great treasures of flora and fauna, as well as great cultural wealth. Declared a Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO and a National Monument, the exceptional marine terraces of Cabo Cruz stand out in its relief, a superb geological system with even submerged segments.
The emerging rocks, of a calcareous nature, look like superb steps carved by mythological giants and it is the largest and best natural monument of its type in the country and one of the most notable in the American Atlantic. The cliffs that come into the vision of the thrill-seeking hiker are beautiful, as that seems like a place conducive to adventure. However, everything is quiet today and only life is bustling in this wild laboratory.
There are no longer pirates or sinking ships due to filibuster boardings, only attractive old legends... Through this environment you can reach Marea del Portillo Beach, near the foothills of the Sierra Maestra, further away you will come across the delicious Las Coloradas Beach, southern spas where there are very good hotel services that will also facilitate underwater immersion for a beautiful coral reef and the knowledge of some shipwrecks, as well as the inevitable charms of the sun and beach sector in the legendary Caribbean.
It also contains the fascinating site of the El Guafe Natural Archaeological Trail. Hotel Villa Santo Domingo or those who want to go into the mountains, within the same province, you should go a little further west and stay if you wish at the Hotel Villa Santo Domingo, on the steep historic road to La Plata, along the paths where the operations of the legendary Rebel Army commanded by Fidel Castro took place in the middle of the 20th century.
Pure nature and history go together in this lofty place, close to the clouds. Comfortable cabins make up the very country hotel, but with the basic comforts of modern life. Above all, it is a highly recommended site for those who like hiking exercises, walks on slopes or ascents, without reaching mountaineering, observation of songbirds and the splendid tropical forest, in general, very preserved and fresh. Also for those who enjoy getting in touch with the customs and traditions of the native people of the mountains, dedicated primarily to the production of coffee, honey and important forest resources.
Bayamo Heritage City founded on November 5, 1513, with the name of San Salvador de Bayamo, nestled in the fertile valley of the Cauto River, the largest in Cuba, it was the second town baptized during the colonizing journey carried out by Adelantado Diego Velázquez in the century XVI. Due to this, today it is part of the select group of heritage cities in the nation. But Bayamo has special values and charms as it is considered the cradle of the forging process of Cuban nationality in the 19th century, of the Father of the Nation, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and of the glorious National Anthem and was the capital of the first Republic in Arms.
The most profound and brave history is breathed through the streets, squares, communities, but modern life also beats strongly. The so-called Sun of Cuba for its glorious history invites you to visit places today such as the birthplace of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the beautiful Cathedral of the city, its wonderful Chapel of Sorrows, La Plaza de la Patria and the original wax Museum.
Know that in a traditional city it is a permanent custom to ride in old colonial model cars, pulled by horses. Manzanillo, the Pearl of the Gulf, the second most important city in the province, awaits you with its maritime and port traditions, next to the beautiful Gulf of Guacanayabo, but also with a strong accent of the land. A town deeply devoted to son and trova, poetry, narrative and very patriotic, also invites you with hospitality, humility and joy to discover the traditional nights of Manzanillo's bohemia in the old Casa de la Trova, very close to the Central Park.
Céspedes and the historic La Demajagua National Park, is about 13 km from the city. Also to dance with the telluric music of the oriental organ that precisely in that town gained its fame as genuine instrument dedicated to Cuban folklore.
