The 36th edition of the Havana International Trade Fair, FIHAV 2018, is celebrating the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Cuban capital next year with several activities.

Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca said during the opening ceremony of the event that 'several projects will be presented and we hope that some of them will have international cooperation.' As part of the FIHAV program, the National Days of Bolivia, India and France will be held on Thursday. The presentation of the 2018-2019 portfolio of foreign investment opportunities in Cuba, which has 525 projects, 69 more than 2017, took place on Wednesday. They include 187 projects in tourism, more than 100 in the oil sector and 108 in the agricultural food sector, with an estimated investment of 11.6 billion dollars, Malmierca said during the presentation. The official stressed that among the main objectives of the portfolio are to promote exports and production chains, as well as the substitution of imports. Among the new features of the portfolio, which has 45 projects in the Mariel Special Development Zone, Malmierca stated that the policy for the industrial sector is updated and it is in tune with the strategic axes and sectors conceived in the bases for the country's economic and social development until 2030.
