FIHAV 2025: A Key Platform for Positioning Cuban Medical Services

Participation in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025) is of paramount importance for Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos S.A. (CSMC S.A.), as this event serves as a crucial convergence point for the fundamental interests of all companies negotiating in the country, whether foreign or Cuban. This was stated by Agnerys Cruz Rodríguez, the entity's Vice President of Business.

In an exclusive interview with this publication, the official discussed the necessity of "positioning Medical Services as an exporter of services that generates income and foreign currency for the National Health System. It is important that it maintains and achieves high positions, and this fair provides us with a space to interact with all individuals or private or state-owned companies with whom we can develop future business ventures. These ventures will translate into increased foreign currency earnings for the Public Health System and for the country."

Regarding the business modalities offered by CSMC S.A., Cruz Rodríguez explained that they are diverse: "We provide services abroad, which fall under what we call 'business in Cuba.' This includes health tourism, and also all academic training, both undergraduate and postgraduate, across all educational levels."

Concerning health tourism, she specified that it encompasses "medical tourism and wellness tourism. In the case of medical tourism, we are referring to patients who, for various reasons, cannot find solutions for their pathologies in their home countries and turn to our services."

She emphasized, "Here, depending on the country's capabilities, high-quality services are provided, which translates into an improvement in the patient's health status. We always strive to ensure that the actions taken for these patients are in full correspondence with the services we can provide to our general population, because both are important... Our people, who are prioritized in our care, as well as those from other places who may need it."

"Regarding specialized wellness tourism, we are talking about the development we aim to achieve in various tourist hubs. This involves tourists who, while enjoying their vacation plan, access services to improve their quality of life. These are attractive services that are in demand, and we trust that in the coming years, they will become one of the main forms of export and income generation for the commercialization company," she stated.

As an example, she cited the agreement established with the Canadian hotel chain Blue Diamond Resorts, which is currently being implemented and has not yet reached its full potential. "However, we aspire for it to consolidate during 2026 and 2027, as it represents a great opportunity for us," she added.

"The commercialization company," the CSMC S.A. executive finally highlighted, "has a social mandate that benefits everyone. Because if it succeeds in increasing income, which is our fundamental purpose in foreign currency generation, those revenues are for the National Public Health System. This will lead to future improvements in care for our population and will allow for the purchase of supplies, medicines, and other enhancements. That is why we are so committed to this company achieving its projected results, because it is a way to contribute to the development of our country."
