Health tourism is projected as a weighty activity within the so-called industry without chimneys at the international level and Cuba has a high potential to become a benchmark within this modality, considered the Minister of Tourism (Mintur) of the largest of the Antilles, Juan Carlos Garcia Granda.

When inaugurating the first International Fair of Medical Tourism and Well-being (FitSaludCuba), García Granda highlighted the importance of the event that will promote a renewed approach to tourism in a modality for which Cuba has infrastructure, highly trained professionals, a network of services and leading programs in the treatment of diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

Later he explained that the institution he leads has contemplated in its development program until 2030 the execution of 22 projects related to health, among which are international clinics and a mineral-medicinal water spa.

The inauguration of the fair was presided over by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Minister of Health, José &Aángel Portal, among other government authorities, as well as the presence of Clarissa Etienne, Director of the Pan American Health Organization.

During the four days of the fair, multiple activities will take place, including the presentation of products and services, as well as the Ist International Seminar on Medical Tourism and Well-being, during which issues related to the sector will be addressed, and the 2^nd International Forum on Foreign Investment in which the opportunities offered by the island for this type of business linked to this modality will be exposed.

Parallel to FitSaludCuba, the 15th Health for All fair takes place at Pabexpo -both are part of the 4th International Health Convention- which will promote, among other aspects, strengthening commercial links within the sector at an international level.
