FITCuba 2024 concludes successfully

The 42nd edition of FitCuba 2024 International Tourism Fair concluded with total success as it has turned out to be the opportune moment for showing the renewal of our tourism product, said the minister of the sector, Juan Carlos García Granda.

When speaking at the closing ceremony, García Granda added that the event also served to show the digitization of processes to improve the experience of customers, the expansion of renewable sources of energy, the transformation of our products with more accessibility, environmentally friendly in line with the country's commitment to compliance with the Development Goals.

He also pointed out that this edition exceeded all expectations in terms of participation, since 1,537 foreign professionals attended, including 437 agents on a familiarization visit, from 68 countries, as well as 68 journalists from 12 nations.

Prior to the fair, the meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for the Americas took place, where Cuba announced its accession to the Human Rights Protection Code.  The UN Tourism, he then said, presented the Cuba Investment Guide Project, which we are sure will open to us new business opportunities.

As part of the digital transformation of the destination, he noted later, it was announced that Cuba will implement starting this month, a new electronic visa system for tourism, which will replace the current card, to facilitate the flow of international vacationers to our country.

He then extended recognition to all those people and organizations that in one way or another contributed to the successful completion of this fair, while announcing that the International Tourism Fair next year will be dedicated to the People's Republic of China as a guest country of honor. Also, he continued, in the midst of important efforts to promote economic-commercial links with China, in particular the promotion of tourism, and is pleased to announce our country's decision to establish visa exemption for Chinese citizens holders of ordinary passports.

Both parties agree on the need to continue creating the conditions and a favorable environment to strengthen relationships in multiple sectors, including the development of tourism. Finally, he reported that FITCuba 2025 will be held in Havana and will showcase Cuba's traditions as a product.
