In the midst of the high season for tourism in Cuba, the Camagua Folk Dance Festival is today an interesting proposal for the end of the year.
For one of the cities with the greatest attractions for lovers of city tourism, this world folklore event that will officially open on the 12th of December in the city of Camagüey, is an open window to the knowledge of the most genuine roots of the peoples.
Precisely, to make known the best of the musical-dance manifestations of Cuba is also the objective of this contest, which is divided into three competitions, one of them with the participation of 16 couples from three continents. This region that links the center with the east of Cuba, can boast of a Historical Center as a World Heritage Site, and that will soon become the capital of folkloric dance.
The event that divides the International Dance Couples Festival, another National Festival for students of Artistic Education, and a third for professional company couples, will be the fifth occasion in which the Camagua Company and its organizing committee will dress up on Antillean soil since Covid-19.
An ideal space for master conferences on a theoretical level, the Camagua Folk Dance will also be a place for researchers from various countries, among which the teacher María de los Ángeles Sarduy stands out, with her presentation on Arará dances. Sponsored by the Jorge Luis Pérez Betancourt Provincial Music Center, "we have the full support of the Directorate of Culture and the Government as such," said the director of the Camagua company, Fernando Medrano, in a press conference.
For the public vote that will determine the winner of the International Festival of Dance Couples, ballots will be available so that the public can choose after the presentation at the Teatro Principal, as well as a space on Facebook with a survey.
