Gibara International Film Festival Unveils Official Poster for 2026 Edition

The Gibara International Film Festival (FIC Gibara) today revealed the official poster for its upcoming 20th edition. The artwork was designed by renowned Cuban artist Nelson Ponce, who has been instrumental in shaping the event’s visual identity since its inception.

The festival is scheduled to take place from July 14 to 18, 2026, in the coastal town of Gibara. This milestone edition will pay tribute to its founder, Humberto Solás, and celebrate two decades of screening, distributing, and championing the global Cine Pobre (Low-Budget Cinema) movement.

According to Ponce, the poster’s concept engages with one of the year’s major scientific milestones: the Artemis moon landing. He reimagines this event as a "Gibara moon," drawing inspiration from Georges Méliès’ cinematic classic, A Trip to the Moon.

"Reaching these cinematic shores is a feat in itself," the festival organizers remarked during the launch of the graphic campaign.

The 20th edition marks a return to the movement's roots, reaffirming the festival’s role as a space for cultural resistance and a vital platform for emerging cinematic perspectives.
