The Granma Chestnuts conquered their second consecutive crown in the Cuban Baseball Championship, when they win in seven games to Las Tunas team, four victories against three.

The baseball players directed once again by Carlos Marti, added this crown to the one gotten the previous season, 2016-2017, when they conquered its first championship title against Ciego de Avila team which was defeated 4-0.

Carlos Marti became the manager number 14 of the National Series history who hoards two titles at least. Just surpassed by Jorge Fuentes (5), Ramón Carneado (4), Higinio Velez (4), Rey Vicente Anglada (3), Alfonso Urquiola (3), Pedro Jova (3), Antonio Pacheco (3) and Roger Machado (3).

With this global victory, Granma reached to the extinct teams Citricultores and Havana in the historical champion table, with two crowns.

The first teams that have been winner of championships are Industriales (12), Santiago de Cuba (8), Vegueros (6), Villa Clara (5), Pinar del Rio (4), Henequeneros (3), Ciego de Avila (3) and Azucareros (3).

While they are it, Granma will return to the Series of the Caribbean for second consecutive year.

Since the Cuba’s reintegration in the regional tournament just four teams of the National Series assured their qualification: Villa Clara, Pinar del Rio (champion in San Juan-2015), Ciego de Avila and Granma.
