Over 820,000 Cubans residents in the whole world will benefit from the new immigration measures announced by Havana in order to update the migration policy. Among these decisions, which will enter into force on January 1, 2018, are the elimination of the passport eligibility requirement so migrants can travel to their country of birth.
They will also be allowed to travel to the island by boat entering the Marina Hemingway Yacht Club in Havana and the Marina Gaviota Varadero, as well as all Cubans who left the country illegally, except those who did it by the military base the United States illegally maintains in Guantanamo Bay, and sons of emigrants born abroad will be capable of acquiring Cuban citizenship.As of the indicated date, they will only need to have a valid and current passport, in accordance with the new policy to travel to their homeland.
