The hairdressing professional or stylist, as they are also called, whether man or woman, is one of the essential people in the life of every human being because they contribute to improving physical appearance and personal care.
Can you imagine living without these professionals? How would we wear our hair? Precisely to honor their beautiful work, the International Hairdresser's Day was established on August 25th, which also includes barbers.
This celebration originated in the 17th century, when the profession of hairdresser was only practiced by commoners of the male sex, who were responsible for the maintenance and care of the wigs used by the nobility. That day was chosen because it was when the Catholic Church sanctified Louis IX, King of France, who declared his official hairdresser a free man, making him equal to knights, judges, doctors and magistrates.
With the development of society, hairdressing and barbering, which years ago only offered hair cutting, blow-drying and nail care services, have evolved and currently provide numerous services for the beautification and care of the image of both women and men.Among these services are makeup, waxing, massages, facial and hair care treatments and many others, according to the needs of each client. In Cuba there are currently several prestigious hairdressing schools and also numerous professionals who make their hairdressing or barbering a true work of art.
We could mention several, but due to space problems, we will refer to one that has won the admiration of many people, especially well-known dancers, actors and singers: Dorian. A model turned stylist, Dorian is a pioneer in Cuba in the creation of a beauty salon exclusively for men.
He made it fashionable on the island for men to go to the beauty salon for more than just a haircut. He began studying at the Provincial Barber School in 2007, while he was studying Social Communication at the University of Havana, which he abandoned due to his passion for the world of image and beauty.
The quality of his work and the variety of services he began to offer attracted a male public eager for this type of care and, over time, more and more artists came to his establishment “Donde Dorian” seeking his services, until he became the personal stylist for numerous professionals in the art world. He has even ventured internationally and has worked with Rey Ruiz, Henry Santos and Maffio.
I wish all hairdressing professionals great recognition for the beautiful work they do every day. Congratulations!
