Havana Club Announces Second Edition of the Cocktail Master Competition

The second edition of the Master Cocktail Competition by Havana Club was announced this Friday by the jury of the competition before the national and foreign press accredited in Cuba. At a press conference held at the Havana Club Rum Museum in the Cuban capital, the details of the competition were announced, considered an important occasion to show the best of Cuban cocktails and in which all bartenders of the country can participate.

Speaking at the meeting, Yunier Delgado, head of the marketing department of Havana Club International S.A., and member of the jury, said that although this is an international competition, it is inspired by Cuban cocktails and is different from the one held by the IBA (International Bartenders Association, according to the acronym in English), since here  competitors will have to overcome different challenges in stages.

In the bar, he said, you have to be creative, innovative, because there are regular customers and you have to innovate and that is closely linked to Cuban culture because we are very creative. On this occasion, we take the bartenders out of their comfort zone, we make them innovate, work as a team and the competition is planned for the entire island.

Those who wish to participate in the contest, which of course is closely linked to the Association of Bartenders of Cuba (ACC), must send a cocktail online, explain its history, the process of preparation through texts, accompanied by photos and videos, to the addresses that will receive the candidates.

On this occasion, the competition will be in teams that may be made up of bartenders who do not necessarily have to work in the same bar, which will contribute to strengthening the competition, because among the community of bartenders there are like-minded people and this will give diversity, since there will be no ties to places, but to people. The call will be open until March 30 and the semi-final competitions will take place next April at the ACC headquarters and the final will be held in May in an emblematic place of Cuban cocktails.

Also present at the press conference were Damián Domínguez, ambassador of Marca for Cuba, Alejandro Bolivar, winner of numerous awards and founder of the ACC and Barbara Betancourt, outstanding Cuban bartender and recipient of multiple recognitions, all members of the competition jury.
