Havana Club Rum Museum launches "Don Navarro" cocktail contest

The Havana Club Rum Museum invites all canteen professionals in Cuba to the “Don Navarro” cocktail contest, with which it will pay tribute to the First Master of Cuban Rum, José Pablo Navarro Campa.

A press release from the entity adds that the contest, open until next August 30, invites the island's bartenders to create cocktails, inspired by the legacy of that great spirit elaborator and main creator of Foundational Rum, the unmatched Havana Club Añejo 7 Years.

Those interested in participating in the contest should direct their proposals to the organizing committee and publish them on their profiles on networks, from which 5 finalists will be chosen. Those selected will defend their creations in a face-to-face event, not open to the public, in order to comply with the prevention measures against COVID-19. The winning cocktail will be the insignia of the Havana Club Rum Museum's bar menu and, its creator, will be awarded an exceptional product: Havana Club Tributo 2021. There will also be a popularity award for the cocktail that achieves the most interactions on social media.

Among the rules of the contest, it is stated that only one entry per participant over 18 years of age will be allowed. The cocktail must be prepared to be part of the service of a bar, contain a minimum of 30 ml of the rum used, which is an essential requirement that it be HC7.

Each participant must publish a video with the realization of the cocktail and its inspiration on their profiles in social networks, preferably Facebook and Instagram. The five finalists will be announced on September 1 and the end of the contest, whose jury's decision is final, will be reported the 10th of the same month, when the declaration of the Cuban Rum Teacher's Day will also be made.

Manuel Navarro, a chemical engineer, dedicated his life to cultivating and safeguarding the know-how of Masters and put the name of Cuban rum very high in the international spirits market. He was a professor, technologist, head of plant, head of department and research group, vice director of the rum company, industrial director and head of technical advisory groups, but his greatest merit is having been the First Master of Cuban Rum.
