Havana International Book Fair changes its date

The Havana International Book Fair 2024 extended its holding date by one week later than initially planned to now take place from February 15 to 25 next year, the country's media announced.

According to information released this Wednesday, the decision responded to a request from the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, country invited to the event, because the first coincides with the scheduled date for the carnival calendar of the South American nation and many of the officials and artists who will attend the Cuban meeting are linked to the carioca festivities.

Likewise, it was announced that the calendar of the Book Fair in the Cuban provinces is also postponed to a later week, culminating on Sunday, March 24 at the eastern Santiago de Cuba. The Havana International Book Fair was held for the first time in 1982 under the motto of the National Hero of Cuba José Martí “Reading is growing”, in the Military Historical Park San Carlos de La Cabaña, its permanent headquarters.

As usual, it will bring together the most important works, writers and publishers in the country, as well as prominent authors and editors from around the world and among its activities is the sale of books, conferences, talks and presentations of new literary works.
