The Havana Theater Festival, the most important event of the stage art in Cuba, will be held from October 19 to 27 and will feature the presentation of 30 plays, 14 of which will be staged by foreign groups.
On this occasion, this festival of performing arts will be honoring the deceased (2012) Cuban actor and theater director, Vicente Revuelta.
The information, released by the organizers at a press round, adds that the curatorial director of the festival, Omar Valiño, chose for the occasion some Revuelta works that aesthetically relate to his work, since he was an artist who chose &to be as authentic and real as possible at all times. "
Among the international groups that will participate there are: Teatro Guloya, from the Dominican Republic; Venus Ex Libris, from Brazil; the Javier Aranda Company, from Spain and Teater PanJál, from Sweden, as well as the Berliner Ensemble, from Germany, a company founded by Bertolt Brecht in 1949, which will perform for the first time in Cuba, at the Martí Theater.
The hosts said 10 Cuban companies will perform, among which are Teatro de las Estaciones, Los Cuenteros, Argos Teatro and El Portazo stand out and foreign guests, such as Andante, Teatro D&áDos and Compañía del Cuartel.
During the Festival, there will also be a theoretical event, where panels and dialogue tables will be formed with Cuban and foreign participants, which, according to Isabel Cristina López Hamze, organizer of the FTH, is designed for the exchange and feedback of the theater groups.
