ILM, EGREM release album dedicated to Cuban legendary dancer

The Instituto Latino de la Música(LMI) and Cuba's state-owned record company EGREM are jointly releasing an album dedicated to legendary ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.

ILM President Daniel Martin plans to launch the album this year on the 100th birthday of Cuban prima ballerina assoluta in 2020. Martin, who is also a producer and artist, told Prensa Latina that in the next few days he will share two of three unpublished songs of the CD 'Alicia' on social media, which will also bring together compositions by diverse admirers. Alicia inspired me with her story, studying her to make her episode for the animated series 'Tito Reacciona' (Tito Reacts) that made me know her deeply as a legend; but when I gave her the Star of the Century Award from the ILM, I met the human being, Martin said emotionally. The first song of the album contains arrangements by Cuban pianist and composer Frank Fernandez, who was Alicia Alonso's friend and dedicated more than one musical piece to her. When Alicia Alonso died on October 17, Fernandez arranged that his most emblematic work, the love theme of the television series 'La gran rebelion' (The Great Rebellion), be officially in all programs with the following statement: 'dedicated to Alicia Alonso.'
