Government authorities from Cuba and China inaugurated in this capital the 27th International Book Fair that has the Asian country as honor guest country.

Representatives of the publishing world from about 40 nations will come together from this Friday, until the next February 11, in the greatest publishing event carried out in the Caribbean island, and more than 400 foreign companies have confirmed their attendance to the meeting.

As personality, the 27 edition of the fair will be devoted to the Doctor Eusebio Leal, Havana old city’s historian and investigator very admired in all Iberian-Latin America.

The president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodríguez Cabrera, informed recently that about 122 exhibitors coming from 22 nations will flood into dissimilar spaces of the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, a roomy cultural and museum complex in this capital located in the entrance of the Havana’s Bay.

From 62 foreign publishing companies, stand out institutions from Peru, Spain and Panama, with a large number of representatives.

According to the 27th edition organizers, the meeting will hold at the same time in its main headquarter (Cabaña Fortress) and in another 22 places scattered by all the city, because of its wide academic, artistic and literary program, impossible to concentrate on a single enclosure.

Among the novelties, appear a project dedicated to the digital literature around the book in that format which is currently in fashion.

Once again, an infantile exhibition hall will offer works dedicated to infant and young public which also has different options for learning and recreation.

About Leal, Bologna Publishing House's director, Mario Cremata, confirmed the reissue of the historian's three books, the presentation of a speeches and lectures compendium under the title Cuba prendida del alma, and a testimonies compilation from almost 100 Cuban and foreign personalities concerning the academic.

The International Book Fair is the most significance event in the Cuban publishing sector and the Cuba’s most agglutinative cultural space.  Discussions, debates, homages, lectures, readings, work presentations, prize giving ceremonies, cinema and performing arts exhibitions and concerts, integrate the vast event’s program.
