The International Marlin Fishing Tournament will return to the Cuban seas

Over 10 fishing teams from Canada, Chile, Spain, South Africa, Bulgaria, United States and France, confirmed so far, will participate in the 72nd edition of the Needle Fishing International Tournament Ernest Hemingway that will take place in Havana May 27 to next June 1. According to the information, released at a recent press conference by Leidys Parra Rodríguez, deputy commercial director of the Marina Hemingway, headquarters of the event, the contest will  be governed under the rules of the International Fish Game Association (IGFA), with teams of up to four fishermen.

Untitled4.jpgRegarding the method used, she indicated that it will be Trolling in the "catch and release" mode. Each team will only be able to have four fishing lines in the water, and the use of the circular hook will be mandatory. Prizes will be awarded to the first three places with medals for each member of the team and a trophy per group. Among other categories, the first catch and the golden major.

Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, the Cubasol Business Group and the Marlin Company, Náutica y Marinas, this tournament is the oldest of its kind in the Caribbean and with it it surrenders eternal tribute to the famous American writer and Nobel Prize in Literature, for being one of the promoters of this activity in Cuba, a country that he fervently loved and where he lived for 22 years.
