The organizing committee of the Josone Varadero Rumba, Jazz Son Festival confirmed that the 2020 edition has been suspended due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event is defined as a festival of the Cuban and international music that, for four days, puts rhythm and flavor in Varadero, the island's most famous beach resort, located in western Matanzas province, 148 kilometers from Havana. A statement from the organizing committee states that the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Cuba and the health protocols directed by the country's leadership, forced to suspend the 3rd edition of the Josone Varadero Festival and insert the event in the digital platforms. Like other great festivals and musical projects globally, the event will take advantage of social media to show these days the best moments of the 2019 festival. The event is organized by Cuba's state-owned record company EGREM, with the collaboration of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, the Cuban Institute of Music and Palmares Extrahotel Company, among other institutions.
