Every December 3, Medicine Day is celebrated in Latin America to honor those professionals who give their best every day and even risk their lives to save their patients.
The date was established more than six decades ago as a worthy tribute to the birth of the Cuban sage Carlos Juan Finlay, discoverer of the agent that transmits yellow fever.
In Cuba, this tribute is carried out with the realization of a day of activities from November 27 to December 3, which serves to pay tribute to all workers in the health sector since, during that period, other related events coincide, such as the unjust shooting of eight medical students in 1871 and the anniversary of the founding of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in 1902.
This celebration is becoming more and more necessary and deserved, especially in the current moment that humanity is experiencing due to the pandemic that hit the planet almost two years ago.
That is why, in addition to this date, it is important to recognize every day the work of doctors and all health personnel in Cuba and Latin America who many times, in difficult conditions, have worked hard, regardless of hours, even in remote locations. places, to take care of the health of all.
May a big thank you and congratulations from the entire team of this publication reaches out to these essential professionals.
