With the decision to start the opening in Matanzas announced by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero at the daily special meeting of the Cuban Government on the situation of the pandemic in the country, only Havana remains restricted from joining the de-escalation that began on June 18.
In the daily television information of the Public Health Ministry, closed at midnight the day before, today the capital had and over the past 15 days, a rate of 5.2 per hundred thousand inhabitants; Matanzas had not reported any case for nine days, and the other provinces had none for weeks.
The Cuban tourism industry, a vital sector for the country’s economy, began to reopen in the postcovid-19 period, initially for national vacationers and, as of July 1, for international visitors to the Key areas.
