Parranda, the queen of parties in Cuba

Parranda means party, celebration, joy in Spanish. In Cuba there are numerous festivals in cities that bear that name: Parrandas de Remedios, de Bejucal... but beyond that, the word is becoming the queen or center of banquets, since for just about four months or years, a new brand of beer called “Parranda” that despite the short time it saw the light, it has become the queen of the revelry.

It can be said that in a short time, “Parranda” is practically the favorite drink of Cubans. Light and refreshing with 4.8% alcohol, it combines the freshness and flavor you like to the majority of Cubans, especially because it is suitable for the tropical climate of the island, current for almost the entire year. Produced by Cervecería Cubana S.A. in collaboration with the Dutch company Swinkels Family Brewers, a Spanish subsidiary, is a mixed company whose factory is located in thedevelopment area of Mariel (ZEDM), launched last June.

According to the information offered to this magazine by the entity's marketing team, The new drink has been very well received by the country's population, as it is considered that Cubans have always been waiting for a very Cuban beer, in addition to the already traditional drink, and they believe that “Parranda” is here to stay. Currently it is sold in almost the entire national territory through TRD stores, Cimex, Caracol, in tourist facilities and in the new non-formal stores.
Sold in PET format of 500 and 1500 milliliter plastic bottles - something new in the largest of the Antilles - managing an ecological concept, while clients will be able to return the bottles to a recycling center via a QR code.

When explaining the origin of the name, the executives meant that they were looking for a name that reflected the national identity and culture, that is why that name, which has to do with joy and holidays.

In short, a word that reflects Cubanness, evident in the fact that Parrandas were declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2018.

When referring to the projects, the specialists highlighted that the entity's claims are managed to completely cover national demands and continue maintaining the quality of the beer, gaining followers in the island and continuing to position it and reaffirm it as “the queen of the holidays in Cuba”.

During the recently held 10th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar, the “Parranda” beer had a wide presence during the meeting, in which the Participants were able to taste this drink, which they considered to be of excellent quality and flavor.
