Patrimony of Camagüey Ready for Tourism High Season

Aiming to ready its infrastructure to receive tourism high sweason in the last quarter of the year, this central Eastern city focuses today in the patrimonial values, especially its lodging facilities.

  In a locality that at the end of 2017 showed a rise in operations at its international air terminal due to the constant arrival of foreigners from several world destinations, diverse projects aimed especially to improve the chain of Hotels E, are being carried out in the area declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity.

  Together with the Provincial Tourism Enterprise of City Santa Maria, the Office of the City Historian of Camagüey also boosts actions to promote the movement of city tourism lovers.    The institution was key to the recent inauguration of the first boulevard of the locality, initial phase of the Project of the Railroad Museum, in a village that was among the first of the country to have a railroad system in the second half of the 19th Century.    The actions in that space included the rehabilitation of the zone of gastronomical services of the Hotel Plaza, also in surroundings of the patrimonial area, comprehensive projects of reanimation that will give the city an efficient nucleus regarding a balance of operations, equipment and vital networks.

  In the case of refurbishment of Hotels Encanto: Santa Maria, Camino de Hierro (Iron Road), Avellaneda and The Marquis, all samples of colonial architecture of Camagüey of the 19th Centuryi, has the contribution of valuable pieces of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Goods, to help personalize every space and function.    For the architect Yosmel Diaz, in the decoration of Hotel Camino de Hierro (Iron Road) were used &pieces of the railroad , paintings recreating urban landscapes linked to terminals and railroad crossings, alluding to furniture used in the colonial period, updated with the contemporary style".    The different buildings being refurbished annually in this locality, one of the first villages founded by the Spanish in Cuba, in 1514, have as fundament the recreation made by artists of fine arts of Camagüey.
