Plastic art artists meet up with their works in Cuba to attend to the silk printing technique’s Workshop, Rene Portocarrero, as well as to pay tribute to this renewed painter, specialists expressed.
As one of the most outstanding figures of the called Vanguard of the 20th century’s Cuban plastic arts, the famous artist, who was born in February 24, 1912, always encouraged the silk screen printing technique and deservedly won the prestige that currently has this experimental institution", workshop director, Dayma Llerena said.
Since 1984 we have in this place a space for the artistic rehearsals, convergence and to share work and ideas among national and foreign plastic arts creators, Llerena declared to Prensa Latina.
Few years ago, different international events and workshops were celebrated in this factory, where renewed specialists’ works had been exhibited; projects like Graphic in the graphic and Happy together, the last one in the previous Havana’s Biennial exhibition were performed, connected all of them with this art form in Cuba, she highlighted.
I believe that the alliance between the graphic arts’ designers and the workshop is the continuity of those remarkable years of the last century’s eighties when our venue remained in the glory of the Cuban culture, she highlighted.
Luis Enrique Camejo, Moises Finale, Flora Font, Alejandro Lescay and Alicia de la Campa are among the most outstanding painters whose works are exhibited in Rene Portocarrero workshop this year.
Once the workshop has concluded, their works will be exhibited in numerous Havana’s galleries and also, sold to the public in cultural spaces as Arte en la Rampa and the International Arts and Crafts Fair (FIART).
It is a project that we want to take up again, Llerena said; just as we made in 1984 when we gave space to perform engraving Workshops for experimentation, forum in which the engravers coming together, and now, we hope to give back them this space.
