President of Cuba Tours Food Fair 2.0

 Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said  that the development of the food industry is one of the country''s top priorities, a strategy based on the economic and social development program.

During a tour of the II International Fair of Food, Beverages and Food Technology of Cuba, Food 2.0, -until May 24 in Pabexpo-, Diaz-Canel explained that for this year is projected in the food industry the largest process investor in the last 10 years.

He added that the country will gradually recover the deteriorated production in this area and above all new products and assortments will be presented, as well as an expansion of the productive capacities to satisfy the food needs of the population.

About the fair, the Cuban President said that there is a greater dimension in the participation of Cuban and foreign companies, an opportune element before the pretensions to relaunch, modernize and strengthen the Cuban food industry.

Díaz-Canel stressed that the business exchange that takes place in this space will make it easier for foreign businessmen to appreciate the potentialities of the food sector, which have a large presence in production, science and innovation as a function of the food industry, a complement to advance in the compliance with the proposed objectives.

Before the stand of Alba Foods (Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, Food), the Cuban leader stressed that among the countries belonging to the ALBA they must establish a productive chain that allows to market a range of products from different Latin American countries, to form a company multinational.

The 2nd edition of the International Fair of Food, Beverages and Food Technology of Cuba, Food 2.0, is attended by about 102 exhibitors from 22 countries and involved some 70 foreign companies.

Alimentos 2.0 is sponsored by the Ministries of the Food Industry, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and Agriculture of Cuba.

It constitutes a space for the promotion of technologies associated with the production and industrialization of food and beverages, a prime ambition of the Development Program of this industry in the country.
