Prize giving ceremony celebrated in the International Craft Fair 2017

The prize giving ceremony to the best products, furniture, stand and design tinged the penultimate day of the XXI International Craft Fair FIART 2017, a meeting that will run until on Sunday in Havana. 

The awards in the category Products were obtained by the craftsmen Gregorio Jorge Duménigo, from Villa Clara, and Sergio Dávila, from Santiago de Cuba, Havana Mosaic Group, and the craft studio The Piolín, from Uruguay. 

For the functionality and finishes the jury of Stand and Furnishings Design conferred a mention in the Furniture category to the piece of kitchen multifunctional furniture from Carballosa furniture. 

The Design award was conferred to Betico armchair, for reinterpret the codes of traditional Cuban furniture in a product of excellent made, finish and comfort. 

Other design prizes were for the table and seat collection from Roberto Ripoll, and the multi furniture Aldecoa, while in the section of Stand the laurels were won by Warehouse Mata, of Raul Mata; and the creative Roberto Ripoll. 

During the day the Foundation Caguayo granted the prize, Raising, to the artist Gonzalo Córdoba, for his contributions to the design in Cuba. 

After the ceremony the event organizers announced that the 2018 edition will be dedicated to the handmade piece of furniture, an expression of long tradition in Cuba, and to Villa Clara province. 

FIART 2017 take place in the PABEXPO fairground with the attendance of creators coming from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Nicaragua, Brazil, Uruguay and Cuba, among other nations that show to the public the most representative in its handmade creations. 

Under the premise Art, Usefulness and Trade, the event is inserted in the celebrations of the Crafts Ibero-American Year and it is dedicated to the creations in glass as an art form and to the Santiago de Cuba province.
