Proxcor S. A., the art of sweets

Created in 2019, Proxcor S. A. began operations in March of last year, when the first stage of the investment with two lines for the production of cookies and sorbets was completed. This young entity participated with a stand at the recently concluded Varadero International Gourmet Festival, where it presented its most recent productions, chocolate and chococo cookies.

proxcor 4t.jpgIn this regard, this magazine interviewed the Commercial Director of the entity, Pavel Alexander Tamayo, who explained the work developed in the little more than a year that Proxcor has been operating, whose main objective is to become a national producer of sweets for Cuba. Currently, in addition to having the two production lines already mentioned, we are immersed in expanding the investment for two new lines, one for breakfast cereals and another for hard and soft cookies, he explained.

“Our products,” he continued, “are present throughout the country: in chain stores and online platforms, as well as in hotels, and at the moment, the products we sell are mainly cookies and sorbets in different formats.” With a staff of 245 workers, including specialists and managers, the company has managed to consolidate production to reach the planned 17 thousand tons per year for an approximate value of 500 million pesos (one US dollar is equivalent to 24 CUP according to the official exchange rate).

proxcor 2.jpgWhen evaluating the work developed by the company, located in the city of Caibarién, in the central province of Villa Clara, he considered that “it has been very positive in terms of customer satisfaction and job creation. However, there is still much to do, but we are working on it,” he emphasized. In this regard, Proxcor also plans to export its products, especially in the Caribbean region, where Cuba has close ties of collaboration.

So far, the company has already exported jams to Venezuela, a country in which it is working to position the brand, and it also plans to begin a series of visits to the nations of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) with the aim of gaining new clients. Specifically, Proxcor's participation in the upcoming International Fair of Havana, to be held next November, pursues this objective, since the presence of numerous businessmen and professionals from practically all continents is expected, which will provide an important opportunity in this regard.
