The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage will analyze 34 applications to enter his representative list, among which is the point Cuba, reported the United Nations Organization for Science and Culture (Unesco).
According to a statement, that entity composed of representatives from 24 countries will meet from December 4 to 9 on Jeju Island, in the Republic of Korea, with a broad agenda aimed at continuing promoting the protection of that heritage maintained for years in communities and countries around the planet.
For its 2017 edition, the Committee will analyze 34 applications to enter the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, among which is the proposal of the point Cuban or punto guajiro.
According to the candidacy file, "the point is poetry and the music of the Cuban peasants ", and although it is characteristic of field, has been extended to the rest of the population.
"The families that dominate this discipline form groups, manufacture their own instruments, and organize and promote the representations ", indicated the text.
From Latin America, other candidates are presented: Bolivia proposes the ritual tours in La Paz during the Fair of the Alasita; Panama postulates the procedures and artisanal techniques of obtaining of vegetable fibers for talc, pints and hat cringes I paint and Peru presents the traditional system of Water Judges of Corongo.
The Committee will also examine six applications for registration in the List of intangible heritage that requires urgent measures of safeguard, among which are the Cantos de trabajo de Los Plains of Colombia and Venezuela.
With 175 states and 14 years of existence, this Unesco Convention has allowed the realization of 140 projects to safeguard the Living heritage in 107 countries.
Last year Cuba achieved the inclusion of the rumba in the list of Intangible Heritage, a recognition to that musical genre and representative dance of culture and tradition in the nation Caribbean.
