Rum Cubay Extra Añejo 1870 awarded for its high quality
Cubay Extra Añejo 1870 rum deserved a two-star award for its excellent quality, conferred by the International Institute of Flavor and Quality (ITQI) based in Brussels, Belgium.
This result, declared president of the Corporación Cuba Ron S.A., Orlando Borrero,to Prensa Latina, confirms the positioning of Cuban rum in Europe, as well as the potential to continue growing in a very demanding market.
This recognition is not the first granted to the spirits produced on the island, as in 2013, it also deserved two stars, the 12-year-old Santiago Extra Añejo rum and in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Isla del Tesoro rum received three stars, he recalled.
Undoubtedly, it is an element of distinction in which we work at Cuba Ron S.A. to achieve and sustain it over time, thus demonstrating the quality of the corporation's offers, Borrero stressed. Later he said that Europe is the main market for Cuban rum, with the foray, through its great distributors and partners; the French Pernod Ricard, with the Havana Club brand; from the British Diageo, with the Santiago de Cuba rum; and Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, with the Eminent brand.
He mentioned Germany, Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom among the most demanding markets of the old continent, and expressed the intention of reaching others, including Belgium itself.
Finally, he highlighted that the new recognition of ITQI, considered a world leader in the evaluation and certification of food and beverages for human consumption, is an invaluable contribution of the Cuban Rum Masters movement, whose knowledge was declared Cultural Heritage of the Cuban Nation.
