After the difficulties brought about by the pandemic, for almost four school years, the 2023/2024 school year began as normal today, the duration of which foresees 46 weeks for all teachings.
From very early in the morning, the streets of Havana and of all localities of the country were invaded by the beautiful bustle of the little ones and also adolescents, who overflowed with great joy the return to the classroom, where they reunited with their classmates after two months of vacation.Multiple acts and celebrations kicked off the school year with great enthusiasm, not despite the difficulties the country is facing, among them the deficit in coverage of teachers, especially in the provinces of Havana, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Sancti Spíritus, Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila as the most affected, according to information recently released by the Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo.
In this regard, she added, that in the territories that need a greater number of teachers, different variants will be adopted, including hourly contracts, cargo addition to a professional manager, and the incorporation of young people from the Contingents Educating for love of the University Student Federation.
Regarding the delivery of material assurance, which has always been and is free of charge for all students in the country, it will start with an adjusted norm according to availability and those texts that methodologically more influence the development of students' skills. The country does not renounce the purpose of providing a quality educational teaching process superior, and is committed to the implementation of the changes foreseen in the III educational improvement, assured the authorities of the sector. In this context, this course must be characterized by a permanent evaluation of the established priorities to make it sustainable throughout the year, the minister told the time she highlighted the importance of education as a pillar for the advancement of nation, the formation of a comprehensive, humanistic general culture, and a model of person who is distinguished by knowledge and values, and not by the possession of estate.
