One of the tourism expansion projects in Cuba, Cayo Cruz, is benefiting today from the promotion of science, especially from the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (Cemtur) of the sector, attached to the University of Camagüey.
Precisely in a recent exchange with the press, Geiser Perera, a principal specialist of Cemtur explained that a ninth edition of the master's degree is being prepared to train professionals in Tourism Management in Cayo Cruz. "This is directed to the three fundamental entities that operate in the area. We are talking about Gaviota, the Real Estate Company, and the Construction Company for Tourism Works in this hub," he said.
"It is a master's degree of excellence that allows the content to be adapted to the needs of the client, and at this time it has a faculty with 92 percent of doctors. Specialists from various universities, including professors from the University of the Balearic Islands and others from Malaga," said Perera, who did not specify the date of its completion.
"In the case of science for the territory, we have a broad system based on the fact that the Technical Advisory Council for the Delegation of the Mintur (Ministry of Tourism) has already been created," said the specialist, who also referred to the entire Territorial Program of Technology and Innovation that the province has, which houses more than 20 percent of Cuba's beaches.
Without a doubt, for the exploitation of this coastline to the north of the province, which also seeks to promote event tourism as a modality, the contribution of science is essential for a better exploitation of the potential of the area, where projects such as the so-called Blue Tourism are already being applied.
At the doors of the high season for tourism in Cuba, the conditions of Cayo Cruz catapult it as one of the most fashionable destinations on the island. The hotels managed by the Gaviota Group have experienced an increase, much more so after the Tourist Exchange held in these properties on the northern coast of Camagüey.
