The signing of 47 contracts and more than 140 business agreements was the final balance of the 2nd edition of the International Transport and Logistics Fair (FITL 2024), concluded this Friday with every success at the Pabexpo venue in Havana.
The exhibition, which was attended by nearly 60 national and foreign exhibitors, among them from Spain, the United States, China, Germany and the Netherlands, among others, constituted a good opportunity to boost the recovery process of the sector from the exchange of experiences, conclusion of agreements and the signing of new businesses that allow progress in improving transportation on the island.
The Cuban minister of the sector, Eduardo Rodriguez, told Prensa Latina, the agreed documents are reflected in the four branches of transportation: aviation, rail, maritime port and automotive), which shows the government's will to modernize and improve the quality of services provided to the people. He mentioned among the most significant agreements the collaboration between the health authorities of Havana and the mixed company MCV Comercial, through which that entity will manage the operation of 15 ambulances to guarantee better sustainability, while the counterpart will be in charge of the medical staff.
Rodriguez also explained that one of the signed agreements reflects the intention to expand the acquisition of electric tricycles for mobility in short cycles, while another of the agreements is related to the assembly of buses in the country. In the case of air transport, on the final day of the fair the signing of a document between Cuba and Uruguay will make it possible to establish legal conditions for the establishment of air services between both nations. During the signing ceremony of that document, the head of transportation pointed out that this agreement will enable greater economic exchange between people and the two countries, at the same time time that it will contribute to regional integration.
In the opinion of organizers, the second edition of the FITL, organized by the Palco business group, including Pabexpo, and the ministry of the sector, managed to fulfill its purposes aimed at promotion of transportation in the country, a fundamental factor to achieve national economic development.
